Obituary of Harold William Winlaw
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, William Harold Winlaw (Hal) passed away peacefully on September 5, 2008 at the Agape Hospice in Calgary, AB at the age of 76 years.
Hal was born on June 27, 1932 to Almer and Irene Winlaw in Mather, MB. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for ten years, and then went on to complete three degrees to become a passionate teacher, and counsellor for the Calgary Board of Education. Hal had a love of real estate that continued throughout his life. He was an athlete who loved to golf, curl and ski. Hal chose a lifelong journey of self healing and self discovery. He loved to read and participated in numerous seminars and retreats. He was dedicated to a holistic health lifestyle and was never afraid to try something new. He lived each day with passion and determination, and always took time to enjoy the moment. Our warrior will continue to share his love and light with all of us.
Hal will be deeply missed by his loving wife Elsa (Vernon); his daughters Lisa and Lara; step children Brent and Jill and grandson Travis. Hal will be fondly remembered by his niece Irene; sister Ramona and brothers Lyall and Mike; and all of his other nieces and nephews. He will always be cherished by his lifelong pal Vern Befus.
