Obituary of Douglas Elliott Lamont Durand

Monty Durand, beloved husband of Susan Durand of Calgary passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the age of 57 years. Monty was born at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary on July 11, 1951. He graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School and played Calgary Colts Junior Football. In 1974 Monty attended Jubilee Bible College in Vancouver where he met Susan Hartman, whom he married on July 22, 1978. Monty and Susan moved to Nanaimo in 1980 where they pastored at Nanaimo Full Gospel Church. They were blessed with two sons while in Nanaimo, Jonathan in 1981 and David in 1982. In July, 1994 Monty and his family moved to Calgary to run the family business, Durand’s Limited Editions, upon the retirement of his parents. In October, 2003 he helped found Symons Valley Full Gospel Church, where he remained in ministry until his early retirement in August, 2007. Besides his loving wife Susan, Monty is survived by his two sons and daughters in law, Jonathan and Alayne Durand and their sons Brody and Harrison; David and Debbie Durand, his father Daniel Durand, his three sisters, Sheila, Margo and Carla and their families, Susan’s parents John and Margaret Hartman, and her brother Tim and his family. Monty was predeceased by his mother Hazel May Durand and his very dear friend Grace Kelly. Funeral Services will be held at Full Gospel Tabernacle (155 Falconridge Crescent N.E.) on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
