Obituary of de Boer

John de Boer beloved husband of Coos de Boer of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the age of 76 years. John was born in Ten Boer, The Netherlands on September 6, 1931. He proudly served in the Dutch Air Force post World War II. In 1953 John immigrated to Canada to begin a new life in Rocky Mountain House, AB. John was a renaissance man, who developed expertise in stamp collecting, model kit building, sculpting, painting, gourmet cooking, fine wines, theoretical physics and fly fishing. He also served as a board member of La Commanderie de Bordeaux. His independence led to a successful career operating his own business for over thirty-five years as “John de Boer Laminates”. John’s ongoing passion to renovate his home for the past forty-four years made it the anchor for his immediate and extended family. John will be lovingly remembered by his children, Hilda de Boer, Richard de Boer, Marian Caudron PhD, and Sean de Boer; grand daughters, Tracy de Boer and Sarah de Boer; and by his siblings, Johanna Dekens, Janny de Boer, Nellie Roulevink, and Jake de Boer. He was predeceased by his brother Reender de Boer. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday September 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m..
