Obituary of Donald Don Ian MACINTYRE
January 3, 1942 – Drumheller, Alberta
October 1, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we announce that Don MacIntyre, PEng, of Calgary, AB, passed away with his family by his side on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the age of 76 years from complications due to Alzheimer’s.
Don was an incredible, generous man that lived an extraordinary life. Don was born in Drumheller, AB, graduated from U of A, and enjoyed a long and successful career as a civil engineer. Don married the love of his life, Sharron, in 1966. Sharron and Don had two daughters and traveled the world as a family, including: living in Indonesia, and visiting Egypt, Peru, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Thailand and many road trips through out the US. Wherever Don was with his family, their home was filled with love, laughter, and happiness. He was a supportive, thoughtful, and loving parent to his children and partner to his wife. Don was well known for his many adventures and great story telling, trying new food and wine and his integrity and commitment to engineering. He was also someone that loved art, books, music, and the theater, and disliked peas immensely. Don had a great admiration for Canada, and enjoyed long walks, curling up with his cat reading the newspaper or watching hockey. Don will be missed and loved always by his family and friends.
Don is lovingly and forever remembered by his wife of fifty-one years, Sharron MacIntyre; his children, Audra and Ainslie MacIntyre; his sons-in-law, Reed and Nelson; his brothers, James and Robert; his granddaughter, Beatrix; and his nephews, niece, and extended family, all devoted to him.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Ian MacIntyre and brother William.
