Obituary of Katherine Ewing

Our mother Kay Ewing of Calgary passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18 2008 at the age of 87 years. Mom was born in Calgary to new Canadian immigrant parents Paul and Nellie Kozy. She attended Western Canada High School and worked at the Ontario Laundry before marrying the love of her life, Jim, in 1943. She worked as a bookkeeper for Burn’s Foods until she retired in 1975. We will always remember how she enjoyed picnicking in the Kananaskis with her family, her love of the Pacific Ocean and rain forests, and her passion for poetry, music, crossword and picture puzzles. Kay is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and John Bogner of Trochu, AB; and son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Barbara Ewing of Abbotsford, BC. Kay is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley (Dave) and Stephanie; sister-in-law Joan Ewing; niece Joanne (Bob) Swainger and family; and nephew Barry (Sandra) French and family. She was predeceased by her husband, James and sister, Ann (Lindsay) French. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North)on Friday, August 22, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
