Obituary of William Hunter

It is with great sadness, that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Bill Hunter. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments. Bill was born in Carlisle, England and moved to Calgary in 1948, after his wartime assignment with the Royal Navy. As a journeyman electrician, Bill was employed by the Calgary Board of Education and retired as a foreman in the Maintenance Department. Bill had a fun, loving sense of humour and enjoyed spending his time with family. He was an active member of his church and until recently loved camping, golfing, walking around the lake and spending time with his new friends at Harbours of Newport. A lowering of the flag tribute will be made by his comrades at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #284. Bill is survived by his children, Bill Hunter Jr. (Margie Kipling), Heather Meadows (Terry Rossi), Colleen Weyman (Wayne), Brenda Festa (Sandy); grandchildren, Mark, Wendy, Shawn, Natasha, Cassie and Tony; great-grandchild, Gio; sisters and families of Hazel Dand and Audrey Whitfield of Carlisle, England. He was predeceased by Millie Hunter; daughter, Shawn and brother John.
