Obituary of Rodwell Gatine Dixon
Rodwell Gatine "Cowboy" Dixon of High River, AB passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the age of 21 years. Rodwell was born in High River, AB on September 2, 1986. He was a singer and drummer in traditional ceremonies, a strong believer in his cultural ways and was very close to his elders. He was taught survival skills, was an excellent swimmer, very athletic and he also took up culinary arts in school. Rodwell always lit up the room with his beautiful smile and contagious laughter. His heart was too kind for this world. We will forever have his memories in our hearts. Rodwell is survived by his son, Storm Dixon. He is also survived by his mother, Vernadee Applegarth (Darren); biological father, Darryl Wesley; his sisters, Rodeleanna, Letoya (Carey), Delena, Tenekia, and Giovianna; his brothers, Clint, Tywacey, Gatine; stepbrother, Aaron Raine; adopted father, Robert Whitecalf and family; grandmothers, Christine Dixon and Mary Jane Wesley; his uncles, Kevin (Agnes) Macfarlan, Leroy, Healey; aunties, Petrina (Kevin), Charmayn (Garnet), Naomi (Wade); his two special nieces, Nevaeh and Melena; numerous nieces and nephews as well as cousins. Rodwell will also be remembered by the Wesley family, Whitecalf family, Applegarth family, Shortneck family, Powderface family, Wildman family and the Bearspaw family; as well as Treaty 6 and Treaty 7 families. Wake Services will be held at the residence of his grandmother, Christine Dixon (Morley, AB, Chiniki Lake Road) on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27, 2008. Funeral Services will be held at the Morley Gymnasium on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
