Obituary of James Gordon Horn
Gordon Horn of Calgary, originally of Winnipeg, MB, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2008 at the age of 93 years.
Gordon was born in Winnipeg, MB on December 2, 1914. He graduated from the University of Manitoba from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Gordon was working in Northern England during the outbreak of World War II. He joined the Royal Navy as an officer and throughout the war conducted anti-submarine research. He married Gladys “Jane” Young in 1940 and after the war, they moved to Canada. In 1948, they had a son who they named Peter. Gordon continued as a research and planning engineer with Bell Canada for thirty-two years. Upon retirement they moved to Calgary to be close to Peter. Gordon and Jane enjoyed sixty-seven wonderful years together until Jane passed last year. Gordon will be truly missed for his sense of honour, humour, and for his thoughtful nature.
Gordon is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Julie, as well as two grandsons, Austin and Danny all of Calgary.
