Obituary of Kevin Lewis Martinkowski
Kevin Lewis Martinkowski, beloved husband of Janel of Calgary, finished his journey in this world on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the age of 50 years. With the vision, wisdom and courage of his Eagle brother, Kevin has started a new journey.
Kevin was born on July 5, 1958 in Regina, SK. His childhood years were spent in Kamsack, SK. Throughout his adult life, Kevin was a guide, mentor and friend to the many lives he touched with his generosity and genuine care. We celebrate Kevin’s life, his warmth and smiles and without a doubt; the endless stories filled with humorous anecdotes that inevitably kept all listening entertained and in stitches. Kevin was a fiercely loyal man to both friends and family. He revelled in the accomplishments of others and shared their pride as though it was his own. If ever there was a person in need of help, Kevin was there to assist in whatever manner accepted. Kevin possessed a creative soul that he fueled with his love of music. That same creativity was channeled into carpentry, mechanics and endless ideas for inventions aimed at making chores and life simpler. Kevin was a kind man whose concern for those dear to his heart was upper most in his mind; even when he was faced with his own difficulties and challenges. He especially showed care and respect for those older or weaker than himself. Kevin loved the outdoors and gathered peace and contentment from his favorite spot in Southern Alberta just prior to ending his journey.
Besides his loving wife Janel, Kevin is remembered by his children, Jennifer Gelinas (Phil MacPherson) of Cochrane, AB, Heidi Jones of Geary, NB; three grandchildren, Kayla, Aidyn and Evynn; and his brother, Curt Matvenko of Calgary. Many extended family and friends also remember Kevin. We are all thankful for the time we have been able to journey with him.
Weep if you must, parting is hell
But life goes on, so sing as well.
