Obituary of Jean Campbell Coutts

Jean Campbell Coutts beloved wife of Earle, of Calgary passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Jean graduated from Stanford C.I., in Niagara Falls, ON and entered Alma College, where she graduated as Class President in May, 1947. She was chosen "Queen of the May" (as reported in the London Free Press, May 24, 1947) "Jean Taylor was crowned May Queen, the highest honour that Alma College can bestow, determined by a vote by students and staff, as the girl who best exemplifies their ideal of all-around student". After she graduated as a dietician, she worked at McGill University and in Hamilton, ON. Jean and Earle were married in 1951 and lived in Toronto, where Earle was employed by Canada Malting Company and where their three children were born. When they transferred to Calgary in 1966, Jean joined and became very involved in the Calgary Winter Club. When Silver Springs Golf Course opened in 1971, she was a charter member and became involved over the next thirty years. Jean and Earle enjoyed many trips including numerous winter holidays in Florida, Mexico, Hawaii and California. This wonderful lady, who was loved by all who knew her and who had a wonderful sense of humour, will be sorely missed. She will always be an inspiration to her grandchildren. Besides her loving husband Earle, Jean is survived by her two sons Richard (Ric) Coutts (D.D) and Rob Coutts (Sammee); grandchildren, Calyn, Alyssa and Jacqueline Coutts all of Calgary. Jean was predeceased by her daughter Carol Anne in 2006.
