Obituary of Julia Krista Lyons

Julia Krista Lyons passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Friday, July 11, 2008 at her home in Calgary, AB at the age of 39 years. Julia Lyons was born in Toronto, ON. She attended Bayview Glen, York Mills Elementary and St. Andrews Jr. High in Toronto before moving to Calgary where she attended RideauPark and WesternCanadaHigh School. Julia began her career with Contact Personnel where she was a Senior consultant then as a Consultant in Human Resources with Western Gas Marketing. After several years in Calgary, Julia decided to move so in 1994 she took a position in the B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC in Human Resources and Labour Relations department. She returned to Calgary and married Joshua Wood in August 1997. Julia began a home based business in 1998, Investigative Marketing Services and in 1998 she was honored to receive the Women of Vision Award in Calgary, and in 1999 was selected as one of the few participants from across Canada to attend the Canadian Women’s Trade Commission in Los Angeles. In April 2000 she was featured, and on the cover of the In Calgary section of Western Living. She served on the Board of Healthy Calgary and was a founding member of the Calgary chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Association. Julia, with her wonderful and unique sense of humor, will be greatly missed. Julia was the delightful daughter of Hugh and Sandra Lyons, devoted mother to the love of her life 7 year old Alexandra, sister to Christopher (Michelle) of Victoria, aunt to Jordain and Victoria Lyons, niece of Katherine Lawton of Regina, Janet Baird of Victoria, Joanne (Scotty) McLellan of Regina, Mary Lou (Bob) Waters of Elmira, ON and a cousin of twelve. We invite Julia’s friends, and friends of our family to join us at a Memorial Service to celebrate Julia. This will be held in September and will be announced at a later date.
