Obituary of Terence Patrick McGovern

Terry McGovern, beloved husband of Mary McGovern of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Friday, July 11, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Terry was born in Cullatagh, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. He immigrated to Canada from Ireland in 1957, Mary and the family followed in 1958. Terry was well known and respected in the plastering and stucco trade. He operated his own business, T.P. McGovern Plastering, for thirty years. Terry was a great lover of the outdoors who enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. Besides his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Mary, Terry is also survived by his daughter Catherine (David) Squibb; sons, Sean (Jessie) McGovern, Martin McGovern (Vel); Larry (Christine) McGovern and his sister Katie Leonard. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Terry was predeceased by his son Desmond; granddaughter Erin; sister Nora Leonard and brother James McGovern. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Father Raul Ranola presiding.
