MALCOLM, John Douglas

July 21, 1941 - July 4, 2008

Doug Malcolm of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 4, 2008, surrounded by his family at the age of 66 years. Doug was born in Galt (now Cambridge), ON, and received his Ph.D in engineering from the University of Waterloo. Following his academic career at Memorial University in Newfoundland, he moved his family to Alberta in 1982. His work in reservoir engineering took him to Europe, the Middle East, South America, and Southeast Asia, but his favorite destination by far was the Canadian Rockies. Doug's generosity, quiet wit, humility, and concern for others will long be remembered. His loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, and colleagues.

Doug was the beloved father of Kimberley (David), Gordon, and Robert (Nikki), and delighted grandfather of Benjamin and James Paranchych. He is also survived by his former wife and friend Doris Caitlin Odlozinski, brother Peter (Rhoda Ann) of Hagersville, ON, aunt Wilda Reinhart, and cousins Sheila (Rodney) Gibson and Kathy Bowerman. He was predeceased by his parents Robert Hutton Malcolm and Audrey Roadhouse Malcolm, and by his aunts, Anna and Florence Malcolm.

Funeral Services will be held at Knox United Church (506 - 4 Street S.W.) on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. A private Graveside Service will follow in Cambridge, ON.
