Obituary of Maria Edna Melina Ternes

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing away of Maria "Edna" Melina Ternes beloved wife of sixty-five years to Peter, mother to Glenna (Ron) and Rodney (Alice), grandmother to Tammy (Greg Leslie), Darcy (Lori Holland), Cole and Tommy, and great-grandmother to Jaedon, Dylan, Nicholas and Lexi, on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the age of 84 years. Edna was born on August 21, 1923 near Kennedy, SK. She grew up in small towns throughout Alberta, due to her father working for Crown Lumber. Edna was a very shy person, but a very loving and caring person. She loved bowling, golfing, gardening and flowers. Her rose gardens were her passion and they were watched over with tender loving care. Edna was very proud of the big fragrant blossoms and brought them in to the house for everyone to enjoy. After Peter retired Edna looked forward to their winter home in Venture Out in Mesa, AZ. While there she developed a love for doing crafts, her home in Calgary, her daughter’s home in Edmonton, and her granddaughter’s home in St. Albert were filled to capacity with her treasures. Edna loved to play bridge. In Mesa, Edna and her sister Violet were very hard to beat! Edna was also a member of the Catholic Women’s League for over sixty years. Edna had a huge capacity for love and treasured her four grandchildren Tammy, Darcy, Cole and Tommy. When her great-grandchildren arrived her heart just grew larger and she wrapped that love around Nicholas, Lexi, Jaedon and Dylan. Pictures were always displayed on her fridge door and shown to anyone that came to visit. Edna is survived by one sister Melvina (Paul); and one brother, Hillard McKennirey; as well as many nieces and nephews. "Mommy now you are in a better place." Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.)
