Obituary of Robert Rob Arnold Irvine

Robert Arnold Irvine beloved husband of Lorraine of Calgary passed away on July 5, 2008 at the age of 64 years. Rob was born on February 29, 1944 in Fergus, ON. For over thirty years he was a teacher in Ontario, the Northwest Territories and Alberta. He Captained the S.V. Nordic Prince and took pleasure in introducing his children, grandchildren, students and friends to the sea. As a teen he was a member of the Army Reserves in Guelph, ON and later on in life became a member of the Masonic Lodge and Chamber of Commerce in Didsbury, AB, the Okotoks Rotary Club and the Catalina 30 Sailing Club in Sidney, BC. Rob was an active volunteer and his hobbies included skiing, painting, gardening, camping, cooking, hiking, travelling and photography. Rob’s sense of humour, caring and giving and even his competitiveness will be remembered by all. "In giving is the reward." Besides his loving wife of forty years Rob is survived by his son, Jeff Irvine (Jennifer) of Calgary; daughters, Lara Robins (Brett) of Etobicoke, ON and Leah Munn (Brian) of Victoria, BC; grandchildren, Anita and Jillian Robins, Sammy and Zachy Irvine; sister, Joyce Erskine; brother, Ronald "Bud" Irvine; sister-in-laws, Janice Corbett and Marguerite Tateishi; brother-in-law, Norman Corbett and families. His faithful dog Penny was always at his side during their many adventures. He was predeceased by his parents, Arnold "Dede" and Norah Irvine and sister, Shirley Nixon. A Celebration of Rob’s Life will be held at Red Deer Lake United Church (West on Highway #22x past Spruce Meadows) on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
