Obituary of Alice Viola Buchanan
Alice Viola Buchanan of Calgary, passed away surrounded by those who loved and admired her on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Alice was born December 9, 1924 in Bromhead, SK. She married Lloyd Bernard Buchanan, December 26, 1945 in Parkside, SK. Alice was a CWAC, nurse, Sears employee and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #264. Alice was a generous philanthropist and volunteer to many charities. She is survived by three children, son Barry and daughter-in-law Geraldine Buchanan of New Denver, BC; daughters and sons-in-law Sandee and Bob Kearns of Olds, AB and Roslyne and Mark Binsenberg of Calgary, AB; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Olive (Mel) Franklin; brother-in-law Floyd (Marg) Buchanan and sister-in-law Isabelle Fengstad; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Alice was predeceased by thirteen siblings and her beloved husband Lloyd, November 19, 1992. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, June 27, 2008 from 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow in the Field of Honour at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
