Obituary of Mary Joan Vandoremalen

Mary Joan Vandoremalen (nee Veltman) of Calgary, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the age of 91 years. Mary was born in ‘sHertogenbosch, Holland on July 24, 1916, the eldest girl in a family of five boys and four girls. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Vandoremalen Sr., who passed away in October 1979. Together with five boys, they immigrated to Canada in 1953. Mary is survived by her daughter, Marian (Rob) Wallace of Calgary; her five sons, Frank Jr. (Angela) of Calgary, John (Patricia) of Ottawa, ON, Rudy (Helen) of Toronto, ON, Rob (Louise) of Victoria, BC, and Gus of Comox, BC; and her fourteen grandchildren, Christina of Toronto; Francis of Calgary; Peter of Edmonton and Rebecca of Toronto; Joshua, Kevin and Tyler of Victoria, Jennifer, Dan and Robyn of Calgary; Dustin of Australia and Caramie of Comox; and Corey and Kyle of Calgary. Mary is also survived by her sister Josephine of Regina, SK. Mary was predeceased by her youngest son, Ed, who passed away suddenly in 2005. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24th Street S.W.) on Saturday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. The family invites friends to meet with them in celebrating Mary’s life prior to the service at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
