Violet (Vi) was born on December 24, 1925, and passed away, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, on Friday, June 20, 2008. Vi was born in St. Lazare, MB, and grew up in the Young and Watrous areas of Saskatchewan. She often referred to the wonderful memories of good times she had with her eleven brothers and sisters and loving parents. Vi was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) Ward; her son-in-law Lorne; parents Emma and Richard Owen; her brother Gordon; and sisters, Shirley, Joyce, Margaret, Gwen, and Lucille. Violet will be sadly missed by her children, Bonnie (Murray), Patrick (Michelle), Joan, and Diana (Paul). She was a loving grandmother to Leah, Tyler, Keir (Thai Lai), Trevor (Raegen), Lia, Hailley, Emily, Robert, Chelsey, and Cass; and great-grandmother to Max, Bailey and Cassidy. Vi will also be missed by her sister Maxine; brothers, Howard (Joyce), Danny (Glenda), Robbie (Susan), and Clark (Izina); brother-in-law Steve Lang; and her many nieces and nephews. Vi had a zest for life and a resilience that was admired by all. She loved golfing with her friends and husband at Willow Park where she proudly achieved a hole-in-one. She also enjoyed playing bridge and socializing with her many family and friends. Vi met life’s losses and setbacks with amazing grace and dignity, and was an inspiration, friend and source of strength to all. The Ward family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Candice Schick, mom’s faithful companion for the last five years – Candice thank you for loving her so deeply.
