Obituary of Grant Graham
Garfield Graham of Calgary passed away on June 16, 2008 at the age of 84 years.
Garfield was born on July 24, 1923 in Rosetown, SK where he grew up. He enlisted in WWII and served for four years with RCAF as a wireless operator. Garfield studied accounting and worked in that position for several years in Saskatchewan, before moving with his parents to Calgary in 1953. Gar was employed in Calgary in various accounting and office management positions spending twenty-one years with the federal government as an auditor and Chief of Administration Services with the Unemployment Insurance Commission. He retired as a personnel officer with the Canadian Employment and Immigration Commission in 1985. Music was a lifelong hobby and he studied piano and voice at an early age. Garfield sang in choirs and choruses in Saskatchewan and in Calgary, singing with the Parkdale United Church choir, the Calgary Philharmonic and University choirs for several years.
Garfield is survived by his brother Douglas J.T Graham and sister-in-law Dorothy both of Delta, BC and their family, Mark D. Graham of Sicamous, BC, Alison J. Graham of Point Roberts, WA and her children Brittany of Ellensburg, WA, and Graham Best of White Rock, BC, Yorke J. Graham, his wife Karen Graham of Delta, BC and their children, Cole and Ben. As well as his cousins, W.H.E (Bill) Graham of Edmonton, AB, Darlene Sparks of Rosetown, SK and her sister Lois Butcher of Harris, SK.
Funeral Services will be held at Parkdale United Church (2919 – 8th Avenue N.W.) on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
