Obituary of Stanley John Knowles

Stanley (Stan) John Knowles, beloved husband of Sharon of Calgary, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2008 at the age of 59 years. Stan was born on April 7, 1949 in Lytham, Lancashire, England. He earned a technical engineering diploma there and immigrated to Canada in 1979, continuing his career in the tool and dye industry. Stan was raised a Roman Catholic and his greatest moments in life were marrying Sharon and the births of their children Ryan and Katelyn. In his youth, Stan was an avid swimmer representing his county in England. He also developed a passion for fishing and the ocean. He was a devoted family man, enjoying many family vacations that revolved around camping, house boating and beach resorts. He enjoyed doing a crossword every day, home renovations, his classic car, the Jaguar, and his favourite music, "Tubular Bells". Besides his loving wife Sharon, and children Ryan and Katelyn, Stan will be remembered by his mother Margaret Knowles; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Terry, Kathleen and Martin, sister-in-law Jennifer; as well as nephews, Desmond and Michael; and niece Rachel. He was predeceased by his father Stanley Sr. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held in Lytham, England, at a later date.
