Obituary of Aleck Ambler

Aleck Ambler of Calgary passed away peacefully at Foothills Medical Centre on Friday, June 13, 2008 at the age of 85 years. He will truly be missed by his wife Birgit; daughter Deborah (Rob) Kernohan; two sons Mike (Rosalie) and Jim; four grandchildren Brad, Mike, James, Diana; great-grandson Austin and numerous friends. Aleck was an extraordinary man with a strong personality and character. He enjoyed life to the fullest and maintained a positive attitude throughout his illness. Aleck had a straightforward but fair approach to life and was not intimidated by challenges. He faced every difficult task head on and will always be remembered as a hardworking man. At times Aleck was perceived as being tough but he had a heart of gold and was always willing to give a helping hand. He lived a rich life and his achievements were bountiful. Aleck touched many lives through his wisdom, humour and countless life experiences. Aleck was a member of RCMP Veteran’s Association. He was a current and active member of Rockyford Masonic Lodge No. 123, Tin Lizzie Corps of the Shrine Centre, Burma Star Association and First Canadian Collectors Club. After his retirement from the RCMP in 1978, Aleck fulfilled his long time dream and returned to farming in Birnie, Manitoba for seven years. A Celebration of Aleck’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
