Obituary of Margaret Mary Waines

Margaret Mary Waines beloved wife of John Waines of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Margaret was born on April 14, 1928 in Loreburn, SK. She married John Waines on August 14, 1954 and they resided in Jasper, AB for thirty-three years, where Margaret worked as an accountant in private practice for many businesses in the Jasper district. She was very involved in her community and was an extremely accomplished musician. Margaret played the organ for her church as well as for several other churches and occasions in Jasper. In August of 1987 the family moved to Calgary, AB where Margaret was a very active member of St. Thomas United Church. Her passion was to teach and help others, she taught piano, and home economics for many years and served on the school board in Jasper. Margaret was a mentor and an inspirational woman. Most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother who was always there for her family and friends. Besides her loving husband of fifty-three years, John, Margaret is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Harriet and Brian Glaiser and Carolyn and Christian Gomez; one son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Tcharna Waines; and seven grandchildren, Heather, Sarah, Dimitri, Richard, Catrina, Maximo, and Ginny. She is also survived by her sister Harriet Michaelson, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Margaret was predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth in infancy and son Kenneth aged 21. A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at St. Thomas United Church (100 Hawkwood Boulevard N.W.) on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
