Obituary of Alexander Herbert Singer

Alex Singer, beloved husband of Joan Singer of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the age of 77 years. Born in Waldheim, SK, Alex moved to Calgary at an early age and attended Connaught School and Western Canada High School. He was a dedicated employee of Calgary Transit and ATU#583 for thirty-five years in several positions. He served as a Director for Calgary Transit Credit Union for ten years, retiring in June 1989. Alex enjoyed the outdoors and was happiest when RVing, camping or mountain hiking. Above all, his love and respect for his family was unsurpassed. Besides Joan, his loving wife of fifty-five years, Alex is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Linda and Steven and Sara; daughter and son-in-law Janet and Daryl Davies; six grandchildren; sisters, Elisabeth Fox of Regina and Sally Martin of Qualicum Beach; and brother Ronald Singer of Calgary. A Celebration of Alex’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
