Obituary of Ronald Norman Butcher
Ronald Butcher of Calgary, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2008 at the age of 83 years.
Ron, originally from Littleport, England, married Jean Oven in 1948 and moved to Calgary in 1955. Ron worked as a purchasing agent for many years in Calgary with Barber engineering until his retirement. Ron and Jean loved to go bowling and to square dance which they proudly showed off in the 1988 Olympics. Ron also loved photography, and loved to take pictures of nature and his family. Ron also enjoyed travelling, and he and Jean took many trips throughout Canada and Europe. Ron was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Ron was a very family oriented man, who cherished his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Ron is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Julia and Norman Gyulai of Lethbridge, his son Leonard Butcher of Calgary, his grandchildren Patricia Gyulai (Rick Kelly) and John Gyulai, as well as a great-grandson, Caden Kelly. He is also remembered by his brothers and sisters, David, Tony, Christine, Doris, and Mary, all of England. Ron was predeceased by his wife Jean (1999), his parents George and Doris as well as by his brothers Maurice and Ken.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (903 – 75th Avenue S.W.) on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 2:00p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
