Obituary of Roger Stayner Hegan
Roger Hegan passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Southwood Hospice in the presence and warmth of his family. Roger is lovingly remembered by his dear wife Diane; four children, Jeff, Nancy Denomme (Jeff), Courtney and Ricky, all of Calgary. He will be equally missed by his brothers and sister, Dick (Mary), Mary Halpen (Terry), Jim (Pats), Tom (Suzanne), and a large circle of close and loyal friends. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan on March 15, 1949, Roger was raised in both Lethbridge, Alberta and the city of Calgary which became home for most of his adult life.
After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, Roger combined dedication to a growing family with a number of highly responsible positions in business life. He was widely respected as an accomplished athlete, outdoorsman and raconteur. Throughout his life, Roger’s trademark sense of humour and lightening wit had a lasting effect on all those who met him and his memory will most certainly be a lasting one.
A Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Southwood Hospice as well as the staff of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for the compassionate care provided to Roger during the final stages of his illness.
