Obituary of Wilhelm Karl Schmid

Willi Schmid, beloved husband of Audrey Schmid of Calgary, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2008 at the age of 82 years, with his family by his side. Willi was born in Vienna, Austria on August 26, 1925 and immigrated to Canada in 1954. As an iron worker, he supervised the construction of many of Calgary’s landmark buildings from the 1960’s through to the 1980’s, including the Calgary Tower, TD Square, the Calgary International Airport and many more. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Audrey; his five children, Gerhard (Lynn), Willi (Linda), Ursula (Charlie), Ronald, and Steven (Cyndi) and their mother Hilda; his seven grandchildren, Tracy, Lisa, Jolene, Erin, Christopher, Brett, and David; and two great granddaughters, Anna and Lauren. Willi is also survived by his step-children, Craig (Linda), Brad (Kathy) and Gail (Don); and eight step-grandchildren, Stephen, Mathew, Jessica, Thomas, Laura, Robert, Connor, and Daly; as well as his sisters, Erna and Adolfine; his brother Rudi; and many nieces and nephews. Willi was predeceased by his sister Hansi. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
