Obituary of Madeline Elizabeth Bertsch

Madeline Bertsch passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary after a brief illness on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Born June 15, 1927 in Unity, Saskatchewan. Madeline was a wonderful mother who will be sadly missed by her loving children, Garry (Gloria) Bertsch, Marjorie (Dennis) Silvernagle, Dianne (Jim) Coleman-McDoulton and JoAnne (Todd) Purcell-Reinsch; grandchildren, Greg (Danielle) Bertsch, David (Kari) Bertsch, Kelli (Jeff) Miller, Tami (Rob) Cottam, Chad (Jodi) Silvernagle, Brad Silvernagle, Laurie (Perry) Graham, Amanda and Tara Coleman and Joey and Todd Purcell; great-grandchildren, Shayla Bertsch, Tyler and Chase Miller, Ethan Bertsch, Zachary and Mackenzie Cottam and Dallas Coleman-Evans. She is also survived by her sisters, Katie (Bert) Spring, Clara Ritter and Barbara Bertsch. Madeline was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1975; her parents, Sebastian and Katherine Stabbler; her sisters, Mary Gottinger, Pauline Keller, Lizzy Stabbler; and her brother, Joe. Madeline will be lovingly remembered as having a great spirit, a wonderful sense of humour and an enormous love for her family. She enjoyed telling stories of the past which kept her grandchildren fascinated for hours. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1525 – 45th Street S.E.) on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre for the kindness and compassionate care given to our mother during her stay.
