Obituary of Theodore Peter Bazant

Ted Bazant passed away on June 1, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Ted was born in Medicine Hat, AB and lived in Jenner, AB for the first few years of his life. He always held a special place in his heart for Jenner, and even though he lived there for a short time he and his family continued to visit the area over the years and have many fond memories. Ted then moved with his parents to Keoma, AB where his parents farmed for three years, and then moved to the Strathmore area where Ted eventually farmed his parent’s farm. This is where Ted and Anita raised their family. Ted’s greatest loves were his family first and foremost, farming, fishing, camping, reading and winning quarters playing cribbage with his family and close friends. Ted enjoyed all sports, both watching and in earlier days coaching. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ted is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Anita Bazant (Lafontaine). Ted will also be lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren; daughter, Maureen Bazant-Gosling and her family, Matthew (Nancy), Jocelynne (James) and Ethan of Strathmore; also daughter, Kathy (Gary) Guichon and their family, Karly, Chancey and Chanel of Strathmore; and son-in-law, Tim Healy and family, Danielle (Stan) Healy of Lethbridge, AB and Ashton Healy of Vulcan, AB. He is also survived and will be dearly missed by Dr. James and Mary Bazant and family of Calgary, Irene and Harold Heinzlmeir and family of Strathmore, Lillian and Gerry Berlinguette and family of St. Albert, Robert and Lyn Lafontaine and family of Chesterville, ON, Adele and Frank Kline and family of Ottawa, ON, Irene and Wayne Moodie and family of Lombardy, ON; and his extended Guichon family. Ted was predeceased by his daughter, Irene Healy and his parents, Walter and Theresa Bazant. ~Ted was a special man who will be missed by all who knew him~ As were Ted’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service was held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Friday, June 6, 2008.
