Obituary of Ryan Michael Sawchuk
Ryan Michael Sawchuk, beloved son of Bev and Barry Sawchuk of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the age of 28 years.
Ryan was born in Winnipeg, MB but grew up in Brandon, Saskatoon, North Delta, Calgary, and also lived in Liverpool (England), and Ottawa. He graduated from Bishop Grandin High School and later went on to attain his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and his MBA from the University of Ottawa. Ryan loved Alicia and their boxer Jenna and enjoyed travel, snowboarding, waterskiing, and golf and had a passion for guitar and banjo. Ryan loved the game of hockey; he started at age five in the North Delta Hockey Association. After the family moved to Calgary in 1990, Ryan played in the Midnapore Association In 1993 he started an eight-year tenure with the Calgary Buffalo Hockey Association, reaching his ultimate dream of playing for the Midget AAA Buffaloes during the 1996-1997 season. Ryan also loved to fix and repair things and was always doing renovations for family and friends. He was ready to tackle any challenge! For many years, Ryan has enjoyed the same circle of friends. His work career saw him at Home Depot and Chrysler Canada while attending school and after completion of his MBA he worked briefly at Eastside Dodge and then took on a fulltime position as District Manager with Mazda Canada. Besides his parents Bev and Barry, Ryan is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Kim and Tim Hutton; niece Ainsley; his brother B.J.; grandmother Mary; and numerous aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his grandparents Lillian and Arnold Hill; grandfather William Sawchuk; and uncle Ken Hill.
A Celebration of Ryan’s Life will be held at the Acadia Recreation Complex (240 – 90 Avenue S.E.) on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
