Obituary of Doris Eileen Ball
Doris Eileen Ball beloved wife of Roderick J.J. Ball of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the age of 91 years.
Born December 5, 1916 in Calgary, AB, the only daughter of Myrtle and Douglas Stewart. Doris was educated in Calgary and completed her Royal Conservatory Music Certificate and began a sixty-eight year career as a piano teacher serving in Olds and Calgary. Married in July 1945 to Roderick J.J. Ball (deceased October 4, 1998). A long time member of First Baptist Church, Doris was the organist during the 1940’s. She volunteered as a nursery school teacher for many years in the church and also spent many years playing for Sunday night services at the original Children’s Hospital in Scarboro. Doris loved music, teaching, and gardening and was in here home on 17th Avenue for fifty-seven years. She will be remembered for her generous nature, warm welcomes, her love for family and great party recitals
She is survived by her three children; daughter Jennifer and Ron Labelle, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; daughter Joy and Bing Fountain, four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and son Roderick and Valerie Ball, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
