Obituary of Edwin A F Trewinnard

Ed Trewinnard passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on Monday, June 2, 2008 the after successfully battling cancer since 2002. Ed was a well-known dedicated Oilman having over sixty active years in Oil Exploration, M & M Land business. In 1951 he negotiated the well site for Williston Basin Discovery Well Daily 15-18, in Virden, MB which was drilled by the California Standard Company (Chevron). In 1954 he commenced he his Masonic journey as a member of Fenwick Lodge 114 AF and AM in Brandon, MB and was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason. In 1969 he attained his 32 degree as a member of Calgary Lodge 23 AF and AM. In September he was initiated into the Al Azhar Temple A.O.N.M.S. where he formed the Tin Lizzie Corps and was its first Commander. The Corps were enjoyed by young and old when seen in the many parades they attended. Ed was a very dedicated member of the Shriners Hospitals for Burns and Sick Children. In 1970/71 he found a patient candidate whose hip deformity was treated and corrected at the Shriners Winnipeg Hospital, he was so proud of young Mike, his patient. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and associates and at his favourite watering hole “the office”. Ed loved and enjoyed his full life with a good sense of humour, crisp at times as we all knew well. Ed is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Donna Trewinnard and Ian and Alice Trewinnard, daughters and son-in-law, Melanie Michaels and Sue and Neil Melnyk, five grandchildren, and by his ex-wife Del. He was predeceased by his brother Harold of England and by his sister Eileen Douris of Edmonton, AB To honour Ed’s wishes there will not be a Funeral Service.
