Obituary of Amber Michelle Bowerman
Amber Bowerman, beloved wife of Chris Bowerman of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the age of 30 years.
Amber was born on July 23, 1977 at the Grace Hospital in Calgary, the city she grew up in. She was a beautiful, funny and gregarious young girl, whose creativity was recognized and nurtured early on by her loving, supportive family. After graduating from Lord Beaverbrook High School she entered the journalism program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, where she flourished both as a student and as the galvanizing editorial force behind the student newspaper “The Weal.” It was here also that she met and fell in love with Chris Bowerman. Amber’s hard work and natural talent as a writer swiftly propelled her into a successful career in the Calgary publishing industry, where she became a regular contributor to a number of publications.
But it is for her personal qualities that Amber will be remembered most. With her quick wit, huge heart and joyful approach to life, family and her many, many friends, Amber brought light and laughter wherever she went.
She is survived by her loving husband; her devoted mother Susan Webb and younger brother Jonny Webb, both of Calgary; her grandfather John James; aunts and uncles, Laura James, Lolly James and Keith Fletcher, Brenda and Bill Kollias; her cousins Kostas and Anna Kollias, and Anna’s fiancé Scott Mundell; the James clan throughout North America; the Murrays throughout Canada and the Webbs in Derby, England. She was predeceased by her grandmother Dolores James and her great-grandmothers Jesse Murray and Louise James.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway’s Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., 403-243-8200) on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. A private family graveside service will follow at Union Cemetery. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
