Obituary of van der Veen

Peacefully, on the morning of May 29, our Rudy (Dad) and beloved husband of Linda entered into rest. Born in the Netherlands, Rudy immigrated to Canada in 1954 and lived in Ontario and Manitoba before settling in Calgary in 1977. Rudy worked for nine years managing credit unions before joining the Calgary branch of CUMIS, where he worked until his retirement in 2000. A great lover of music, Rudy sang in the Knox United Church choir for twenty- six years and would serenade family and friends at every opportunity. Since retiring, Rudy and Linda enjoyed many wonderful traveling adventures, especially the 25th anniversary trip to Australia in 2002 where they renewed their wedding vows on the beach. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Linda; children, Brian, Brenda, Kirk and Craig; grandchildren Katelyn, Carter and Tori Grosart, Liam and Grace van der Veen, and his faithful little companion Freedom. Rudy was pre-deceased by his first wife Martje (Marcia), sister Hinke, and parents Meindert and Japke. A Celebration of Rudy’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 2:30 P.M.
