Obituary of Moyna May McIlhargey

Moyna May McIlhargey, beloved wife of the late James of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Born in Calgary on July 6, 1926 to Barney and Mary Joyce (nee Prudhomme), Moyna, a five foot one inch dynamo, was the youngest and by far the prettiest of the vivacious Joyce girls, Colleen (Tom) Fairs, Patricia (Charlie) Veilleux, and Betty Kelly, with an older brother Emmett and a much younger brother Garry (Meridee). Moyna was baptised at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; graduated from St. Mary’s Girls High School, since demolished, and in 1948, married her high-school sweetheart, the apple of his eye, himself, James Lawrence McIlhargey at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Predeceased by Jim in 1989, Moyna missed him desperately and continued to celebrate their marriage, April 7th of 2008 being their sixty first wedding anniversary. Jim and Moyna were blessed with five wonderful children, Patrick (Jewel), Mary Lou (Don) Gyonyor, Barney (Laura), Joseph (Ute), and Tamara (Rob) Stichbury; twelve grandchildren, Jessica (Neil) Longstaff, Jay McIlhargey, Angela (Brent) Hilderman, Stacy (Dan) Bilodeau, Jodie (Ken) Thorsteinson, Nicholas McIlhargey (very special friend, Angela Barreto), Tekla McIlhargey (very special friend, Chad Heron), Simon McIlhargey, Danielle Stichbury, Paul Stichbury, Justin McIlhargey and Calvin McIlhargey; nine (plus) great grandchildren, Trevor and Kaiden Longstaff (Jessica and Neil), Mckenna and Malik McIlhargey (Jay), Shaylee and Cole Hilderman (Angie and Brent), Gracie and Isabella Bilodeau (Stacy and Dan), Cali and bump (Jodie and Ken), and bump (Tekla and Chad, boy, due September). Always close to her were her numerous nephews and nieces, their spouses and children, the Holloways, the Kanes, the Veilleuxes, the Fairs, the Kellys, and the Joyces.
