Obituary
Obituary of Raymond McEwing
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Raymond McEwing announce his passing on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Raymond, known as Ray to many friends and family, was born on the farm near Rivers, Manitoba in 1920. It was there that he met and married Joyce Jay, raised their daughter Elaine, farmed and was a part of the community until moving to Brandon and subsequently Calgary, after losing his beloved Joyce to cancer in 2004. Ray’s greatest achievements and highest values were found in his love of farming, his gentle disposition and in his relationships with family, friends and legions of others he touched along the way.
Ray will be missed, fondly remembered and is survived by his daughter Elaine and son-in-law Duane Felt, of Calgary and a multitude of family members in Alberta, Manitoba and British Columbia.
A special acknowledgement to his friends and staff at the Canyon Meadows Retirement Residence, where he resided for the past few years and whom he considered as part of his “family.”
We will miss you Dad: to our hero, rest in peace.
God saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, “Peace be thine.”
