Obituary of Charles Christopher Charlie Holmes

Charles Holmes of Balzac passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the age of 98 years. He had exceptional health all of his life and his passing was quiet and peaceful. Charles was born in Colyton, Devonshire, England and came to Canada in 1926. He farmed just east of Balzac all of his working life. Charles loved to travel and he and Janet had many enjoyable trips to the United States and also abroad. Charles is survived by two sons, Allan (Beatrice) of Crossfield and Dennis (Barbara) of Cochrane; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Janet of sixty-nine years in 2003; his sister Nora in 2005 and his brother Ron in 2007. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Airdrie Funeral Home (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, Alberta) on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. Graveside Service to follow at Airdrie Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a gathering at the Balzac Community Hall on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 3:00 P.M.
