Obituary of Robert Morley Richardson

Robert Morley Richardson of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Robert was born in Toronto, ON on March 19, 1922. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Chemical Engineer Degree in 1943. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers from 1942 to 1946. He was employed by Gulf Canada for thirty-six years. Robert is survived by his loving wife Liz; his daughters and son-in-law, Robyn and Joanne and Doug; as well as his two grandchildren, Rob and Tavia Sarkissian, who brought the smiles to his eyes. Bob was the heart of our family. The measure of a man’s life is not how long he lived but the affect he had on people and how he touched them. “You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that he will return, Or open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him, Or you can be full of the love that you have shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember him and only that he’s gone, Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what he would want … smile, open your eyes, love and go on.” A Private Celebration of Bob’s life will be held.
