Obituary of Donald F. Irving

Donald F. Irving, beloved husband of Kathleen Irving (nee Kelly) of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the age of 91 years. Don was born and raised in Calgary. He graduated from Western Canada High School. He attended the University of Alberta and graduated from McGill University in 1939 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanics. Don was a lifetime member of APPEGA, President of Irving Industries (Foothills Steel Foundry Division Ltd.), and a Director of Irving Holdings and Irving Wire Division. He also held offices in Amer. Foundry Association of Alberta (Chairman), Calgary United Fund, St. Philip’s Anglican Church, the Boy Scout Association (Cubmaster), and the Calgary Diabetes Association (as a Fundraiser). Don was formerly employed with M.W. Kellogg in New York, Carter Halls Aldinger in Winnipeg, C.I.L. Neepawa in Manitoba, the Department of Munition and Supply (shipbuilding in Ottawa), and Dominion Rubber in Montreal. Besides his loving wife Kathleen, Don is survived by his daughter Susan McIntosh; and sons, Harry F., Kelly D., and James D.
