Obituary of Dick Murray
Dick Murray, born September 26, 1937 in Saskatoon, SK, passed away peacefully in Calgary on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the age of 70 years.
Dick was an iron worker for many years with Dominion Bridge and worked on job sites across Canada and the U.S.A. throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. He retired in 1992 and then he and his wife Claudette parlayed his love of sports and collecting into establishing Dick’s Collectables, a successful retail store in the Deer Valley Mall which happily occupied his daily schedule right up until his unfortunate illness in November of 2007. Dick attended Grey Cup every year and held seasons tickets for the Riders, the Stampeders, the Flames, and, more recently, the BC Lions. Many were treated to his generosity as Dick enjoyed bringing friends and customers to various sporting events around the country. He will be missed.
Dick is survived by his children, Richard (Kathy) of Regina, SK, Cindy (Al), Lance and Devin (Brad), all of Calgary, Lee of Vancouver, BC, and Jason of Banff, AB; six grandchildren, Travis, Dustin, Amanda, Chelsea, Brendan, and Brookelynn; great-grandchild Tristan; and his beloved dogs, Flakers and Trixie. He was predeceased by his loving wife Claudette.
