Obituary of Terry Dale Harbottle

Terry Harbottle, beloved husband of Heather and wonderful father and friend of Jamie and Tyler died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. He will be sadly missed by his parents Burt and Marie of Saskatoon; and father and mother-in-law Tom and Maxine Rees, also of Saskatoon. Terry will be greatly missed by his brother Dwight (Sandra) of Vancouver; and by his brother Ron (Joanne) of Saskatoon. He is lovingly remembered by his brothers-in-law, Vern (Sandra) and Raymond (Patricia) Rees; and sisters-in-law Kathy (Peter) and Cindy, all of Saskatoon. He will also be greatly missed by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the family dog Charlie. Terry was born in Humboldt, SK, and in 1968 he moved to Saskatoon with his family where he attended Walter Murray Collegiate. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and an MBA in Finance. Terry moved to Calgary in 1977 where he began his career in the oil and gas industry. In 1979 he married the love of his life Heather (Rees). His work as a scenario planning consultant afforded him the opportunity to travel the world. In recent years he also taught introductory and upper level finance at the University of Lethbridge (Calgary campus) where he discovered a passion for teaching. His last working years were with the National Energy Board, where he was Team Leader in the Gas Commodities Business Unit. Terry excelled at hockey, baseball, curling, golf, and skiing. While he passed his love and knowledge of sports to his sons, his own sports enjoyment was curtailed by his many health problems over the years. He met his health challenges with tenacity and quiet determination. He will be remembered for his great integrity, kindness and generosity. His family who he cherished so deeply will miss him profoundly.
