Obituary of Francis Walton Hughes
Born on July 31, 1913 in Regina, SK, Frank passed away of natural causes on Monday, April 21, 2008 at the age of 94 years.
Frank was predeceased by Alice, his beloved wife of fifty-five years, in 1991; his brother Lorne in 1974; sons-in-law, Rudy Dinter and Glen Van Hereweghe; grandson Russel Richards, infant granddaughter Mary Trueman; and great-grandsons Lucas Harris and Joshua Kay. He is survived by seven children and their spouses, Carolyn and Bob Trueman, Anne and George Richman, Alison and Alex Richards, Pat and John Curzon, Elaine and Terry Zubot, John and Rosemary Hughes, and Charles Hughes; twenty-seven grandchildren; and forty-seven great-grandchildren. Frank was in turn a farmer, tool and die maker, WWII Naval Officer, elevator agent, butcher, and steam engineer. He was a good provider who loved his wife and children, the telling of colourful jokes, playing piano for family and friends, and mechanics. Dad was a talented pianist who generously shared his gift with friends and loved ones. Our parents ended each day with writing in their diaries and praying the Rosary.
You were a good Dad and we’ll miss you.
So long for now.
