Obituary of Nephi Emanuel Quist
Nephi Emanuel Quist was born of David and Margaret Erickson Quist in Claresholm, Alberta on May 28, 1923. He was a true Southern Alberta boy. While serving in the Canadian Air Force as a pilot in World War II, he married Ruth Court in the Cardston Alberta Temple on November 17, 1943. They raised their seven children in Lethbridge, then Calgary. He loved serving as a police sergeant and detective with the Calgary Police Force for 26 years. Nephi built many of the homes in which the family lived. After retirement from the police force, they built their dream home on a quarter section of timberland near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta where they lived for 25 years. While in Rocky, Nephi continued building news racks for United News and drove a school bus for the Rocky Mountain House school division. He was a proficient outdoorsman who loved providing wild game for his family. He was also an accomplished woodworker whose creations are treasured by many, including toys that were sent overseas to needy children. Nephi always had a story to share with you and could often be found surrounded by his grandchildren eager to hear more. He passed away peacefully in the early hours of April 18, 2008.
