Obituary of Shu Chan

Shu Chan passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at the age of 81 years. Shu was born in Canton and worked in Hong Kong as a chef on an ocean liner. In 1963 he immigrated to Sherbrooke, Quebec and worked as head chef at Nanking Café. In 1969 he brought his family to Canada and retired in 1990. Shu moved to Calgary in 1992 to be closer to his family. Shu is survived by his loving wife, Yuet-Har; daughters, Anna (Jimmy) Gee of Vancouver and Miriam Mah of Stockton California; sons Vincent (Vanessa), Barry (Cindy), and Nathan (May) all of Calgary. He has thirteen grand children and eight great-grandchildren. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) Wednesday, April 23, 2008 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calgary Health Trust or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family would like to thank the staff at the Foothills, Neurosurgery department for all their care.
