Obituary of Gerald McGivern

Gerry reached the finish line of his year-long mental bike race against a rare cancer (GIST) on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. He was 69 years old. Gerry’s tenacity, grit and humour were an inspiration to all who supported his ride. He will be remembered as a hero by his loving family, wife Ann (nee Bonnell), “favourite daughter” Chelsea, and best friend and son James. He will also be greatly missed by family and friends here and abroad. “A life celebrated is a life lived.” Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Banbridge, Northern Ireland in May.
