Obituary of Axe Jr.

Francis Axe Jr. was born on December 13, 1949 on the Siksika Nation. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side and went home to be with our creator on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the age of 58. Francis was a very traditional, humble, respectful and kind-hearted person. He never turned anyone away from his home and always welcomed people to visit with him. Francis attended Old Sun Residential School and Olds College. In his younger days he played hockey with the Siksika Broncs and the Old Timer Buffalos. In his time playing hockey, he was chosen to play for the Pee-wees team for Quebec, there he was going to further his education. Francis leaves behind to mourn, his children, Lenora and Charlie Running Rabbit; grandchildren Dylan, Christian, Sage, Hoyce, Tanesha, Ashley, Desmond, Scott and Kaiden. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Roanna, Randall (Sharon), Donna (Gerald), Jordan (Charlene), Jenny (Donnie), Trudy (Dennis), Bobby, Kenny (Louise) Scabby Robe, adopted siblings, Romeo, Hugh, Glen, Daphne (Trent), Jason, Benny, Ann-Marie, Lillian (Clarence), Bob (Sandra), Marcia (Guy), Wilda (Calvert), Robert (Josephine) Wolf Leg, Elizabeth (Alvin) Big Crow, Ross Olds, Al (Georgette) Hornberger, Jokey (Joseph) Old Women, Gerald Sitting Eagle, Raymond Crow Chief;. Also to mourn is his special adopted mother, Mary Lillian Cutter and special friend Rachel Peace Maker; uncles, Edward Turning Robe, Clifford (Annie) Big Eye, George Cardinal; aunties, Ruby Doore, Alice Weasel Child, Ruth Majoris, Evelyn Brass, Connie Rabbit Carrier, Elizabeth Scout, Donna Raw Eater, Susan Strangling Wolf, Florence Back Fat as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Francis was predeceased by his grandfather Edward Little Axe; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Axe. Sr.; daughter, Dora-Lee; brothers, Andy and Robert; sisters, Pauline and Priscilla; aunties, Beatrice Turning Robe and Ada Breaker; uncles Leonard and Benny Blackhorse and Peter Axe; granddaughter, Ashton and nephews Amos and Stanley Axe. He was also predeceased by his adopted parents Hugh and Valerie Crow Chief; extended families, Turning Robe, Brass, Gros Venture Boy, Curly Rider, Breaker, Stimson, Crow, Many Guns, Medicine Shield, Black Horse, Many Heads, Crowfoot, Crow Chief, Wright, Cutter, Spotted Eagle, Raw Eater, Red Gun, Albert Owl Child and Stevens. The family apologizes for anyone they have missed. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Francis Axe Jr., Siksika Nation, AB on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Bridge Chicago Community Centre, Siksika Nation, AB on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at the Little Chicago Cemetery.
