Obituary of Allan Barclay Code

Allan Barclay Code passed away peacefully on the morning of April 12, 2008 at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary at the age of 75. Allan was born in Vancouver in 1932. The following year, the family returned to the Springvale District east of Red Deer where his parents, Norman and Kathleen, started farming. Allan took his schooling in a one-room schoolhouse a mile from the family farm. In 1962 Allan married Verna Repchin in Vernon, B.C., and they moved to Calgary two years later where they have resided ever since. His life as a long-haul trucker took him throughout Canada and the U.S. for a period of fifty years. With the last Peterbilt Allan owned, he logged well over a million kilometres. During retirement, Allan and Verna enjoyed camping and travelling in their motor home. They attended rodeos throughout Alberta with annual trips to the Rodeo Finals in Edmonton and Las Vegas. In later years, Allan enjoyed reading, working on the computer, following the progress of the Flames and Stampeders, and pampering his two cats, Mandy and Toby. Allan will be dearly missed by all the family. Allan is survived by his loving wife Verna; son, Dan (Christine); daughter Melanie; brother, Sheldon (Verna); sisters, Dawn Hayton and Barb McKay and brother-in-law, Ken (Linda) Repchin. He was predeceased by two infant sons, William and Dwain, in 1964. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 1:00P.M. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
