Obituary of Mathilda Malinowski
Mathilda “Tillie” Malinowski of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the age of 89 years.
Mathilda was born in the township of Leibenthal, SK to Magnus and Mathilda Steinke, the third of four children. She moved to Calgary in 1950 where she met her husband George, who predeceased her in 1990. Mathilda was a loving mother and grandmother and will always be remembered for her devotion to her family. She was a superb baker and a first-class gardener. She loved music and would always be ready with a song. Mathilda was a devout Catholic and lived her life in accordance with the teachings of the church.
Mathilda will be sadly missed by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Antoinette and Hugh Furber and Bernice Robillard; grandchildren Leonie, Byron, Julie and Heather and great-grandchildren Calvin and Elise. She is also survived by her brother John Steinkey of Leader, SK and many nieces and nephews. Mathilda was predeceased by her parents, brother George, sister Margaret and son-in-law Richard.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
