Obituary of Cecil Lee Kerley

Cecil Lee Kerley beloved husband of Barbara Kerley, of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Cecil was born and raised in New Mexico. Cecil entered Military Service in 1943, and served during World War II in the United States Navy, Submarine Division, Hawaii. In 1946, he enrolled in the New Mexico School of Mines. He graduated in 1950, with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and joined Condor Petroleum as their District Superintendent of Oil Production Operations in Abilene, TX. General American Oil bought out Condor and Cecil accepted a transfer to Coleville, SK in 1960 and then transferred to Calgary in 1971 as Vice President of Production. Cecil retired in 1985. Cecil is survived by his wife Barbara Kerley, and her daughter Andrea (Clayton) Crawshaw; by his daughter Marilyn (Irvin) Maruk; by his sons, Wade (Marj) Kerley and Dude (Kathy) Kerley; and their mother Wanda; by his granddaughters, Cherry Schut, Dee Dancey, Jana Chantler, and Lisa Kerley; by his grandsons, Todd Maruk, Dustin, Bryce, Scott, and Ross Kerley; great-granddaughters, Selena and Jocelyn Schut, Mikelle Chantler and Samantha Dancey; and by his great-grandson Jarvis Chantler. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Fern Tullar, Margaret Gorodezky and Betty Spear. Cecil was predeceased by his parents Wilker and Ethel Fay Kerley; brothers, Jack and W.T. Kerley; sisters Dolly Cheek, Fay Peterson; nieces Constance Spear Minor, and Sandra Crisp; and by his nephews, Wilker Cheek and Donald Miller. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Elbow Park (3602 – 8th Street S.W.) on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
