Obituary of Annie Hrenewich

It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Annie (Ann) Hrenewich (nee Mesenchuk) on Thursday, April 3, 2008, she has now joined her husband Donald Richard (1996) and many other dear family members and friends. All who knew Ann described her as a “lady in the truest sense of the word”. She was an elementary school teacher and because of her encouraging supportive teaching style had success with many students who had not responded well to other school experiences. Ann loved music and encouraged all her children to develop their talents in that area. A stay-at-home mom while her children were young she loved to cook and bake and we often came home to the smell of fresh baking. Many of her recipes have found their way across Canada and the USA. The family of this truly special lady would like to extend a special thank you to friend Gloria Filyk, often introduced as “my third daughter” for the visits, home made jam and Tim Horton’s treats, and to friends Leo and Sheila Flaman for the many visits with roses and chocolate treats each time. We would also like to thank Dr. Robert Wood and Dr. Doug Lampard for their care and the staff at Bow Crest Care Centre who treated Mom with kindness, respect and humor allowing her to maintain her dignity and good spirits to the end. Ann is survived by her daughters Arlene (Bryan) Shaw, Beverley Hrenewich; and her son David (Kathy); four grandchildren, Ian (Kim) Shaw, Dawna (Kent), Michael Shaw and Emily Hrenewich; as well as six great-grandchildren, Adam, Isaac, Josh, Zach, Gabriella and Madison. She is also survived by her brothers Bill and John (Rose); and her sisters Irene and Mary; her brother-in-law Ted (Nell); and sisters-in-law Kay and Muriel; and many nieces and nephews. A Private Inurnment Service will be held at a later date. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
