Obituary of Margaret Helen Patterson

Margie passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Foothills Medical Centre at the age of 83 years. Margie was born in Calgary, and attended Cliff Bungalow, Rideau Park, and Western Canada High schools. She obtained her B.Sc. in Public Health Nursing at the University of Alberta and her R.N. at the Calgary General Hospital in 1948. In the fall of that year she married Arthur and together they began a wonderful partnership that lasted fifty-nine years. Margie was active in the Calgary General Hospital Alumni and she was physically active playing badminton, tennis, hiking, skiing, heli-skiing, and kayaking. She loved the mountains and enjoyed them to the fullest. Margie is survived by her beloved husband Arthur, son Dr. Harry Patterson of Banff, AB, and daughters, Mary Bricker of Calgary, AB, Susan Patterson of Stettler, AB, and Dr. Joan Patterson of Canmore, AB. She was the loving grandmother of Luke, Nigel, Amelie (Harry), Angela, Krista and Tessa (Mary), and Ben and Jennifer (Susan). Margie is also survived by her brother Dr. Bill Armstrong of Saanichton, Vancouver Island, her sister-in-law Stuart Patterson of Calgary, AB, and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Jamie in 1951 and by her brothers, Ted, Harry, and Stewart.
